Gardening Advent Calenders 2026
A gardening Advent calendar is a lovely way to count down to Christmas while looking ahead to the next growing season. Instead of chocolate, you open a new seed surprise each day—and by Christmas, you may have a whole collection of flowers, herbs or vegetables to grow.
I got the Herb & Vegetable Seed Advent Calendar from Seeds Ireland, which is right up my street: it’s filled with seeds for vegetables and herbs. If you’re choosing one for yourself or another gardener, here are a few options to look out for in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.
For gardeners in Ireland, Seeds Ireland’s Herb & Vegetable Seed Advent Calendar is a natural place to start. It focuses on vegetables and herbs, and Seeds Ireland lists delivery across Ireland and Northern Ireland. The calendar is currently listed at €29.99. There’s also a flower seed version for anyone who would rather grow blooms. Seeds Ireland’s Advent Calendar range
I chose the herb and vegetable calendar because I enjoy growing things we can use in the kitchen. It feels like a little daily nudge to start dreaming about next year’s garden.
Another Irish option is the Buzzy Herbs and Vegetables Advent Calendar, available from Mallorn Gardening Supplies. It includes 24 varieties of seeds, plus bamboo pots, compost tablets and a mini greenhouse. It’s listed at €29.95; check the retailer for current stock and delivery details. I have ordered Magic Seeds before for rare Organic Seeds - they are based in Regensburg, Germany and available via Amazon.ie.
Their Magic Garden Seeds Advent Calendar with 24 Vegetable, Herb & Flower Seeds includes 24 seed packets of open-pollinated, easy-to-grow varieties. For gardens, raised beds and balconies, a Sowing chart is included. They are in Paper Envelopes and it's virtually plastic-free (except for the germ protection bags of the seeds), and all materials can be recycled.
For UK shoppers, the Verve Shelter Seed Advent Calendar from B&Q looks like a strong value option. It’s listed at £15 and includes flower, herb and vegetable seeds, with a small growing kit behind the extra 25th door. The 2026 calendar is reported as available for click and collect, with limited stock, so it’s worth checking local availability before setting your heart on one. And I have been told that Sainburies are doing their own seed advent calendar for £8.00 !!
The RHS Seed Advent Calendar is another mixed-seed choice, with 25 varieties of flowers, fruit and vegetables. It’s made in the UK and comes in a recyclable box, but the RHS shop currently lists it as sold out. RHS Seed Advent Calendar
For gardeners in mainland Europe, Bloomling has a wide selection of seed Advent calendars. Options include Mohnblume’s “My Garden Friend”, with 24 vegetable and herb varieties, and calendars from Magic Garden Seeds with mixtures of vegetables, herbs and flowers. Prices shown on Bloomling’s Ireland site range from about €23 to €40, depending on the calendar. Bloomling’s Advent Calendar selection
The choice is especially good if you’re looking for a particular theme, such as organic seeds, flowers for pollinators, or a calendar designed for growing in pots and on balconies. Delivery charges and availability depend on the destination, so check those before ordering.
A seed calendar is a fun gift, but it’s worth checking what’s actually inside before you buy. Some focus on vegetables and herbs, while others include flowers or a mix of all three. A small growing kit can be handy for beginners, but experienced gardeners may prefer a wider seed selection.
It’s also worth checking delivery to your area, especially if you’re ordering across borders. Stock and prices can change during the Christmas season, so confirm the latest details with the retailer.
A seed Advent calendar won’t mean sowing every packet in December. Many seeds are best saved for the right time of year, so the calendar can be part of the fun of planning and growing.
Another lovely option for a gardener who enjoys watching the birds is the Birds on Tree Advent Calendar from Vivara. It has 24 daily treats, including seeds, fat balls and suet shapes, ready to hang outside and enjoy with the garden visitors. I’ve bought my organic bulbs from Vivara before, so it’s a familiar shop for me. See the calendar at Vivara.
I’m looking forward to opening my Seeds Ireland calendar and seeing what’s tucked behind each door. Have you tried a gardening Advent calendar? Which one would you choose?
